As an ADVOCATE, the Alliance seeks to promote public support for the preservation of the city’s historic assets by providing networking and informational assistance to owners of historic properties and local heritage preservation programs. It does this by aligning with other community enhancement groups to pool resources and consolidate efforts toward a common and mutual goal. Get your 2024 calendar!
The Washington County Museum and the Blair Historic Preservation Alliance have joined communities in the county on a historic sign project. The project highlights the history of each of the towns in Washington County with photos and information on building and pedestal signs.
To celebrate the history of the county and to encourage you to find and read the signs, the 2024 Historic Picture Calendar, “On the Heritage Trail,” invites you to follow the Heritage Trail through Washington County. Clues are provided with the photos every month to help you identify the location of the photo. If you find and read the actual signs you will be able to answer the bonus question. A QR code to the Heritage Trail provides a map of sign locations.
Calendars are on sale for $10.00 at three locations: the Washington County Museum in Fort Calhoun, and at the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Boutique in Blair.
BHPA’s Downtown Research Project
The Blair Historic Preservation Alliance seeks to preserve the history of Blair’s structures and sites through its Historic Landmark Registry by actively researching and documenting the history of each downtown building. We have collected an extensive set of images and recollections. Please view the project’s pages and enjoy a glimpse into Blair’s past.
